Joseph's Arm

We got good news this morning! As some of you know, Joe tore his left bicep off completely last November during a Rugby game. His doctor, unfortunately, is somewhat of a hack and didn't recognize the signs so told Joe that it would heal. 2 months later, he was attending physiotherapy for the injury when the physiotherapist suggeted that it looked torn off, not just ripped. Through many calls to the doctor (from both us and the physiotherapist), Joe got an appointment with a specialist. The doctor called me, making excuses and saying that it didn't present itself like a tear, but oh well!

He saw the specialist (Dr. Musto) last Tuesday. Then, Dr. Musto needed to consult with other surgeons since the general idea is that these injuries are inoperable if they are not repaired within a week to two weeks of the injury. Long story short, the surgeon has scheduled Joe to see a pioneer in the field of bicep reconstruction! He is just back from a sabbatical in Abu Dabi where he spent years perfecting a surgery on biceps, which can be done up to 18 months after the fact!! YAY! Apparently Abu Dabi has many weight lifters who tend to strain themselves under heavy loads. Good news for Joe!! So, next week he with see the new specialist and, hopefully, we'll get some more good news! It's a little stressful since he could be off for months recuperating, but it is necessary and I'm sure I could do without the extra money, as long as Josh and I get to hang out with his Daddy! :)
