DO NOT DEAL WITH ROMA FURNITURE!

This is an incredibly long story but do not buy from Roma Furniture! I bought a sectional almost 2 months ago and when it was delivered it did not fit in my house. I went back immediately and paid double for a leather reclining sofa and loveseat (the same one my parents had bought the week before). It was out of stock so I had to wait almost a month for it to come in.

When it was delivered we noticed that there were scratches all over the front of the loveseat and tears at the back of the loveseat and sofa. As well, it looked like there had been big tears in the leather at the bottom of the footrest that had been repaired badly. I complained immediately to the driver who called the boss and promised they'd repair the initial scratches. When I noticed the extent of the damage I called the warehouse and requested new couches.

A week later the new couches were delivered but they were a horrible orangey-brown colour and had a puncture on the front of the loveseat. I showed this damage to the driver who immediately walked out without saying one word to me, left the front door open and got in his truck and drove away. I called the delivery number to complain and then noticed damage to the walls. They had scratched the walls and gouged the paint and even taken the paint and plaster off of some corners. They said they'd get me dark brown couches but it could take 7-10 days.

At this point I was getting nervous about dealing with a company who delivers damaged couches twice and avoids my calls (I had purchased extended warranty but was never even given any documentation or information on who to contact or the cleaning kit that was promised) so I called and requested a refund. For the next 4 days I left messages at the store and on the owner's cell phone and never heard anything back. When I finally heard from them it was the salesman who asked to come look at the couches. He said he could refund my money as soon as the owners gave him the okay. The salesman came into my house and looked at the couches and damage and left to send his report. Apparently he told them the couches were the right colour so I had to take a part of my couch down to the store and take side-by-side photos to prove the difference. I emailed the picture to one of the owners who still maintains that it's right. Even though mine is a very different colour from my parents' couches and the ones in the store, theirs is wrong and mine is right so he will happily exchange theirs for them (to an orange one?!?)

Now one of the owners will come look at the furniture so I have him in my house where he too says it's the right colour. He will talk to their warehouse and get back to me in 2 days. This takes us to today when I again had to track someone down because they never call or show up when they say they will. He said it's not his call and the warehouse won't refund my money. I'll get an email with their reasoning later. I have spoken to 2 of the 3 owners and no one will take responsibility for the decision - just pass it off on someone else. I would never deal with them again!

As of right now I have 2 couches in the wrong colour - one that is damaged - and extensive damage to my walls and no one will do anything about it. I guess I should have accepted the dark brown couches in the beginning but I am so uncomfortable with having a warranty throught this company that I'd rather be able to walk away and take my business to a different store. I would never deal with Roma Furniture again!!

Rafting with REO!

We took my parents for a trip to REO Rafting at the end of last summer for their birthday presents. It was amazing! I asked Joe what he thought of it and he said it was great, "but you didn't even go down the fun part". *L* There's an option to go down a harder part of the river but to do it you have to jump out of the raft and prove you can swim. Well, there was no way I was voluntarily going into the water so I had to take a bus down the crazy part. Watching the men go down that section I have to say that when I go again I will definitely jump in the lake to prove I can swim rather than miss it again! My parents said it was an experience of a lifetime and I can't wait to go again. If you've ever wanted to go rafting you should check out REO! And I can smugly say that I was the only person in our boat of 7 that didn't fall into the water. Even my Mom and the guide fell in once. *L* Here are some of our pictures. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
