James' First Visit to the Emergency Room

Steph and I had to take James to the emergency room today while Mom and Rick watched Joshua. The baby was coughing and having trouble breathing and then he lost his voice. It was so cute to see him crying but not hear any noise. Cute but also a little scary!

The doctors were so nice. They gave him some steroids through a mask and then took a chest x-ray and tested him for the RSV virus. The x-rays were good but he tested positive for RSV (a completely normal virus that is only especially harmful in small infants). So he is now on a baby inhaler and we have to watch him for the next 10-12 days in case it gets worse.

Joshua has a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon as he has been very whiney and clingy lately, even waking up a few times a night. It's probably just anothe ear infection resulting from his cold, though. So he should be better in a little while.

I will hopefully be getting my normal nights back soon enough (where I only have to wake up twice with the baby, not with Joshua as well!!) Life sure is more hectic with 2 than 1!!

I hope your little ones get better very soon! It's very difficult to have sick babies, you worry all the time. Nolan got his first cold in Poland and I was awake for 3 nights due to his stuffy nose. To make you feel better, Nolan still wakes up 3 to 5 times at night!
Good luck!

Three nights ago, Brayden woke up two times coughing...Rylan slept...Two nights ago, Brayden had a 1/2 hour coughing fit and Rylan slept...Last night Rylan woke up at 5:30 and Brayden slept...if it's not one...it's the other. I hope that both James and Josh feel better! Let's get together when our boys feel better!

Jeepers! Owens little buddy is going through the same thing right now - and he is 1 year old.

I see you haven't updated since James was admitted to the hospital yesterday -- hopefully he will be home tomorrow or the next day and you can update about your ordeal!
I hope James recovers soon (I don't think any of us could bear another 6 weeks of his illness - he's only 6 weeks old, for gosh sakes!)

Hope everything is ok with your little ones. Sounds like James had to spend some time at the hospital. Poor little guy! Praying for you all.
